In this section, wherein I as a
practicing Roman Catholic member of the Laity
(the Body of the Church) offer my
opinions regarding some positions of the Church, regular reading of
articles provided daily in
"Zenit:
The Church Seen From Rome" (www.zenit.org) is very helpful.
Also helpful are articles posted on
LifeNews.com. I provide
Links to those valuable sites
from this web-site.
In recent weeks, several topics have been addressed which
should be reviewed in the
original by any interested reader. Refreshingly, they
clarify rather than obfuscate.
- "Economic Considerations in the
Removal of Life Support", (ZE10111710, 11/17/2010).
- Several articles on the recent
election of Archbishop Timothy Dolan as President of the U.S.
Conference of Bishops: LifeNews, Nov. 12, 15, 16, 2010.
That choice was very reassuring to me.
- "Pope: Bishops'
Conference Doesn't Replace Bishop", (ZE10111511, 11/15/2010).
- "Thirty Studies in Five Years
Show Abortion Hurts Women's Mental Health": LifeNews.com, Nov.
12, 2010.
- Several articles on Christians
in the Holy Land: Zenit, Oct. 24, 25, 26, 29, 2010.
- "Religion In America: New Book
Examines the Diversity of Faith" Zenit, Oct. 31,
2010.
Some statistics from the last reference listed:
"No less than 83% of the population
belongs to some religion, with 40% reporting that they attend religious
services nearly every week"..."Among white Catholics, just over 60%
have left the Church, with an almost equal division between those who
have lapsed and rarely take part in any church activity, and those who
have switched religion".
I am not one of that 60%.
"I
would rather fight than switch". GS
