CALLING ALL CATHOLICS; OTHERS ALSO WELCOME.
What to do in this election...consistent with your Faith? This is Not an impertinent question.
Our Catholic Faith should be the core of our Life Lived Daily,
not a piece of clothing put on for "special occasions".
The national election on November 3 presents a special challenge, particularly regarding two issues: Economics, and Abortion.
Here the current publication of National Catholic Register (Oct. 11-24, 2020) provides two very helpful articles:
- "The Candidates and Economics", by Jonathan Liedl. Hint: "Pope
Leo Xlll, for example, forcibly condemned the main tenet of socialism,
'a community of goods', on the basis that it is 'directly contrary to
the natural rights of mankind,' including the inviolability of private
property".
- "Cardinal Gerhard Muller Looks At US Politics. The 2020 Presidential Election And Catholic Conscience", by Edward Pentin. "...he
is clear that any Catholic or religious politician who actively
promotes abortion and euthanasia is 'not eligible for election'". Cardinal Muller is prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
