About the Catholic Church and its scandals.
The attached is an excellent Editorial on the subject.
I
have been literally scandalized on only one occasion in my life. That
was when Bernard Law, fresh from massive scandals in Boston, was
"honored" at a ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich, CT.
attended by scores of bishops from throughout the nation...on his way
to an apparent promotion in Rome.
The point is aptly made in the Editorial that now corrective action must be spearheaded by the Laity, "The Body of the Church".
What
the Clergy and the Magisterium must do is to reconsider the
"discipline" (not a doctrine) of celibacy for priests. This is
undermining the Priesthood, just as the insistence on "the unitive
function of sex" regarding even committed married couples has
undermined the Laity - in numbers and in faithfulness.
Is Pope Francis, a breath of fresh air and Hope, himself becoming compromised by his surroundings and its occupants?
