WHAT'S
WRONG WITH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH #162
Rapid
Response for SATURDAY, June 27, 2015
RR#3
A "CONSEQUENTIAL WEEK" OF
NEWS-WORTHY DEVELOPMENTS.
- "SCOTUSCARE":
I have already addressed this ;
- CHARLESTON:
THE GOOD (remarkable and holy Christian forgiveness); THE BAD (an evil
and/or mentally ill person and his reckless parents and friends); and
the UGLY (the politicians who are quick to make hay with crocodile
tears about "racism", "gun control" and a flag. Regarding this last
issue, see the always excellent commentary by Charles Krauthammer
entitled "On Lowering Flag Of The Confederacy" (in The Day,
www.theday.com, Saturday June 27, 2015, Opinion, pA4).
- Gay
Marriage. Many people have "gone ape" over this development, including
the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Regarding this last group, Law
Professor Alan Dershowitz is extensively quoted in an article by Bill
Hoffman on Newsmax (www.newsmax.com, Friday June 26) that is well worth
reading. One of his quotes: "No Priest is going to have to marry
two
men or rabbis are going to have to marry two men." This never was a
religious issue. It was and still is a cultural and ignorance
issue.
And it is a Civil Law issue. Whether it should have been decided
by
the Judicial Branch of Government instead of the Legislative Branch is
something that I have already addressed elsewhere in Rapid
Response.
And to my Bishops: review the damaging work of Pope Paul VI in his
encyclical "Humana Vitae" regarding contraception, the work of many
conservatives throughout the 1970's trying to kill the results of
Vatican ll aborning, the fossilized stance toward divorce while
tolerating the abuses of Annulment, and of course the abominable and
sinful handling of the child abuse issue over decades. Review all
of
this...and then do Penance at the coming Convocation on the Family
scheduled for this coming October. It is long overdue.
YES, THIS HAS
BEEN A CONSEQUENTIAL WEEK OF DEVELOPMENTS.
