this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that
to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be
pro-active.

Today my offering is an excellent
book by Condoleezza Rice entitled "DEMOCRACY: Stories From
The Long Road To Freedom" (Twelve - Hachette Book Group, New York,
2017).
I suggest it as a MUST READ for
anyone who values Freedom and Liberty - and especially for those who don't know
the meaning of those words and who merely take them for granted.
The messages are clear:
- Freedom
and Liberty are at the heart of Human Endeavor, too often tempered by
desire for Control;
- Democracy
is the governmental mechanics of these goals - all three of them;
- To
achieve Democracy requires Blood, Sweat and Tears at the outset - a goal
yet to be achieved in half the world;
- Once
achieved, Democracy requires Blood, Sweat and Tears to defend and maintain
- against the ever-present desire for Control;
- In
well over two centuries, American Democracy has experienced all of the
above, seasoned by Knowledge and Common Sense;
"Ai...and there's the
Rub". Today, America is hobbled by at
least two younger generations of "americans" who have gained neither
Knowledge nor Common Sense: THE STUPIDS."
"To be old and wise, one
must first be young and stupid". If this is true for
America's current demographics, we must survive until the Stupids get
Old.
The Only Way is to OUTVOTE THEM AT
EVERY OPPORTUNITY ! OTHERWISE, NEITHER OUR DEMOCRACY, OUR
FREEDOM NOR OUR LIBERTY WILL SURVIVE !

ISRAEL CONTINUES TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR SCIENTIFIC SMARTS
The
Israelis do not make islands in the shape of palm trees, towering
skyscrapers, expensive hotels, nor do their leaders use cars with
massive pure silver bodies.
The pride of Israel is that its technologies will be able to be used by all humanity:
1. Tel Aviv University is developing a nasal vaccine that will protect people from Alzheimer's and stroke.
2.
The Technion, Institute of Technology (Haifa), has developed a simple
blood test capable of detecting different types of cancer.
3. The
Ichlov Center (Tel Aviv) isolated a protein that makes colonoscopy
unnecessary to detect colon cancer, with a simple blood test. Colon
cancer kills about 500,000 people annually.
4. Acne doesn't kill,
but does cause anxiety in teens. The Curlight Laboratory has created a
cure. Emitting UV rays at high intensity, kills the bacteria that cause
acne.
5. The Given Imaging Laboratory has developed a tiny camera
in the form of swallowed pills and transmits thousands of photos of the
digestive tract. These high-quality photos (2 per second for 8 hours)
can detect polyps, cancers, and sources of bleeding. The photos are
sent to a chip that stores them and sends them to a computer. At the
end of the process, the chamber is eliminated via the rectum.
6.
The Hebrew University (Jerusalem) developed an electrical
neurostimulator (batteries) that is implanted in the chest of
Parkinson's patients, similar to the pacemaker. The emissions from this
device block the nerve signals that cause tremors.
7. The simple
smell of a patient's breath can detect if a patient has lung cancer.
The Russell Berrie Institute for Nanotechnology has created sensors
capable of sensing and registering 42 biological markers that indicate
the presence of lung cancer without the need for a biopsy.
8.
Catheterization can be dispensed with in many cases. Endopat is a
device placed between the indicator fingers, which can measure the
state of the arteries and predict the possibility of a heart attack in
the next 7 years.
9. The University of Bar Ilan studies a new drug
that fights viruses through the bloodstream. It is called Vecoy Trap,
as it tricks a virus into self-destruction. Very useful to combat
hepatitis, and in the future Aids and Ebola
10. Israeli scientists
at Hadassah Medical Center (Jerusalem) may have discovered the first
cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as Lou Gehring's disease,
in an Orthodox rabbi. Stephen Hawking, a famous British scientist,
suffered from this disease and used methods invented by Israeli
scientists to communicate.
You will never get this from main-stream media.
The world shouldn't live on bad news alone …. so spread this good news.

Fifty Dollar Lesson - The joy of logic
Perhaps our younger generation is beginning to think a
little... A $50 Lesson:
Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front
yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking
their dog.
During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl
what she wanted to be when she grew up.
She said she wanted to be President someday.
Both of her parents, Democratic Party members, were standing
there so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first
thing you would do?"
She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."
Her parents beamed with pride!
"Wow..what a worthy goal!" I said..."But you don't have to
wait until you are President to do that!"
"What do you mean?" she replied.
So, I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the
lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50.
Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless
guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a
new house."
She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me
straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over
and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"
I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."
Her parents aren't speaking to me anymore.
If you know any Republicans that would get a chuckle out of
this, share it with them.
Most Democrats will just delete it, I guess the logic escapes them...

I use this line from a famous ballad
because it is very relevant to anxious concerns of many people following the
disruptions of the Pandemic - and of the last decade.
Many people are upset, confused and
even angry. And they show it in their everyday activities and personal
interactions - on and off the road.
Not Good. Not Healthy.
In such a situation, don't be
"outcome oriented": "What if this; What if that".
Rather, be "process
oriented": "This is the problem. Let's work on
this".
Apart from the many other problems
regularly addressed in this Rapid Response section, the following are some
questions that I too ask Alfie about.
1) HAVE WE LOST OUR BINARY IDENTITY
(MALE - FEMALE)...OR WAS HUMANITY EVER SO SIMPLE?
There is certainly a legitimate
biologic / psychologic issue out there that requires honest analysis.

2) Truth be Known, ADHD is an

THERE". And here I'm talking about Health Care in America.
I've been writing about this for decades. It only gets worse.

take political action. This is how tyrants have always taken over.

Way" without serious review and learned consideration. SHAME.

He will NOT do that...and the vast
majority of his 70 million supporters will not enable that - quite the
opposite.
In fact, I believe that he Will
Run in 2024. It is only the timing of that announcement - before or after
the 2022 elections,
currently Not a shu - in for
Republicans.
And why should anybody care what I
think? Don't Care. Just consider the source, a careful
observer since I began paying attention
on December 7, 1941. Approaching my
90th year, that's a lot of observation and documentation - as on this

DERANGEMENT SYNDROME" permeating its entire authorship - likely a
non-negotiable condition of participation.
1) On the coming 2022 national
elections:
a) how will the fall-out from the
belated cancellation of the illegal Roe v Wade play out?
b) the awakened (not Woke) Latinos
are the wild card, likely trending strongly Republican - smart and moral
people.
c) MAGA vs. "Never
Trumpers". MAGA wins.
d) Campaign Financing - the mother's
milk of elections. A worry. Donald Trump needs to play a larger role
here.

and a worthy executive. But he needs to loosen up.
4) China: a Plague on our body
politic...thanks to our craven politicians and to the single-minded business
types who feed them. That approach could be "the death of us".
5) Most Black brethren are much
smarter than their lemming "spokesmen". See the article by Jason L.
Riley entitled "Three New Books Challenge Preconceived Notions of
Race",
(in WSJ July 27, 2022).
6) Dangerous to your Health. See the
WSJ Editorial entitled: "Medical Education Goes Woke" (July
27, 2022). The Political Leadership of the Medical Profession has been making
serious mistakes since the late 1980's. This would be the worst.

THE TRUTH, A MORAL MAN, AND A WORTHY
GOAL FOR AMERICA.

WOW:
"AH HAS SEEN THE LIGHT".
Always preferring documentaries, all
well-produced on NetFlix, I just viewed "Woodstock - 1999".
Given the inevitable comparison with
Woodstock - 1969, those members of the current two "Woke" generations
become much more understandable.
The young people who created
Woodstock - 1969 were living through a dangerous period of the Cold War
and also through the Viet Nam war of Lies and tragedy. They then lived through
one of the worst economic decades in American history in the 1970's.
With those experiences they
"begat" permissively the young people who created the disaster of Woodstock
- 1999. Look it up.
And who did they beget? Look around
you. Of course, the current generations were influenced (infected) by the
ever-present "social media", by their I - Phones and by the amoral
mass-media that provided an illusion of being "constantly connected"
while actually preventing them from experiencing this vital socializing
experience.
It will take a long time for the
American Ship of State to right itself, something we may not have in this
increasingly dangerous world. But we must try.
And remember the truism:
"IN ORDER TO BE OLD AND WISE,
YOU MUST FIRST BE YOUNG AND STUPID".

Although we are in the middle of a
Stupidity Pandemic, this is not stupid. It is very likely self-serving for
those allowing it. It is also Treasonous.

others, to THROW THE BUMS OUT.

ME FOR ANOTHER POT POURRI OF IMPORTANT TOPICS, IN MY OPINION.
1) THE PRECARIOUS STATE OF SOME ESTABLISHED DEMOCRACIES:
Where
some previous American Presidents have been faulted for “nation
building”, *Biden is at risk for nation protecting…in this case
concerning Ukraine and Taiwan. Although seemingly robust in America’s
response to the threatening great powers, he may be signaling
appeasement. Fortunately, we are now witnessing a role reversal from
recent decades when the U.S. led the other democratic nations in times
of crisis. It is now the NATO nations and Japan, South Korea and some
of the Southeast Asia democracies that demonstrate a more steadfast
opposition to tyranny. This is temporarily fortunate. But it is
“necessary but not sufficient” in the long run.

What do you get when you send a Case to the Jury after only the
Prosecution has presented its “evidence” without opportunity for the
Defense to present any rebuttal or evidence or witnesses or
cross-examination? You get a loud objection from that Jury. See The Day
Editorial dated August 3, 2022 entitled “Recapping Jan. 6 Hearings” and
followed by the largest number of “Comments” that I recall seeing. Why
not try being fair rather than partisan sometime?
3)
“Who Woudda Thunk It?” The United States Supreme Court has
already had a great deal to say about Parental Authority under the
Constitution. See “Parental Authority Gets A Boost From Dobbs” (by
Michael Toth, in WSJ July 28, 2022, Opinion, pA17. Despite a Law School
education, this is news to me. And it is particularly relevant in the
current conflicts between Woke Leftist teachers and politicians and
citizens vs. just plain Parents. One front in that battle involves how
to deal with “transgender” students. There is a great deal more than
meets the eye and the ear regarding that subject, as I have alluded to
in past RR’s. See “Did New Haven Schools’ Transgender Policy Changes
Have Any Effect?” (by Dannhouser, in ctmirror.org, August 2, 2022).
What is needed here is more research, more frank and patient discussion
among All the parties (of course including the parents), and less
vitriol. This is important.
