campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that
to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be
pro-active.

DISTINCT FROM THE IDIOCY OF THE LEFTISTS
in their intentional plan to destroy this nation from within, two related Crises are:
Policing and Public Safety; and
the Plight of the average Black citizen, as distinguished from Black elites and Black "leaders".
Today
I focus on these two issues. The Leftists and their pawn - the
*President - will be dealt with by the fire-wall presented by the 2022
election - or otherwise.
In offerings such as this, I have
neither time nor inclination to regurgitate good analyses of such
issues in the media when I find them. My agreement or objections will
be obvious and pointed.
Regarding the challenge inherent in Policing and Public Safety,
I offer the excellent article published by Peggy Noonan - always top
notch when she is not in the grip of "Trump Derangement Syndrome".

Regarding the Plight of the average Black Citizen, a Must-Read is the article by Jason L. Riley entitled
"The Soul Of Black Conservatism" (in WSJ May 29-30 2021, Opinion, pA13).
"Mr.
Sowell has shown in his writings that groups that confront and address
internal problems are best able to rise socially and economically. 'If
the history of American ethnic groups shows anything, it is how large a
role has been played by attitudes of self-reliance', he wrote in 'Race
and Economics' (1975). 'The success of the antebellum free person of
color compared to the later black immigrants to the North, the
advancement of the Italian Americans beyond the Irish-Americans who had
many other advantages, the resilience of the Japanese-Americans despite
numerous campaigns of persecution, all emphasize the importance of this
factor, however mundane and unfashionable it may be'".

6) "Cyber-Security" is an Oxymoron right now...Non-Existent.
And that fact could replace the Hydrogen Bomb as the future threat in
Mutual Assured Destruction. I hope, without much confidence, that
someone in this country is working on that.
7) China: a greater Existential Threat to America than the Soviet Union ever was...in
its conventional as well as nuclear capability, in its global economic
reach, and in the compromised position of American Business to its
advantage. A multi-headed Dragon! WAKE UP, AMERICA!
8) "Meanwhile, back at the Wind-Ranch",
we are unilaterally giving up our primacy in Energy in response to
unfounded dire predictions about the Earth's future and clear risks to
our present and near-term future.

Today I offer a "MICRO" version relating to important issues affecting and roiling this nation internally.

INTELLIGENCE. Better watch this closely. It's watching you, both
from the ever-smarter computers and from their (temporary)
controllers...the likes of Google and its Chinese counterparts.
- CYBER-INSECURITY.
How much more evidence do we need to understand that this is America's
Achilles Heel? Of course I hope - only hope, not trust - that our cyber
-experts have the matter in hand. But I doubt it. In another era
SPUTNIK gave us a jolt, followed by a timely and appropriate national
response. I see none of that at this time. This vulnerability could be
for our generations what MAD was for those of the 50's - 80's.
- WE
ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS to irresponsible
claims of "Racism" everywhere, to "Cancel Culture" and to the technique
of the "Big Lie" that brought Hitler to power. The most recent example
of this is the effort to kill aborning the publication of former Vice
President Pence's memoir. Outrageous.
- PRESIDENT* BIDEN MUST
CHOOSE AT EVERY TURN BETWEEN THE UNDERSTANDABLE (IF OFTEN NOT
ACHIEVABLE) GOALS OF LIBERALISM AND THE INSANITY OF THE LEFTISTS.

NEWS FLASH: THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER YET, NOT IN THE WORLD AND NOT IN THE U.S.A.
Not with the disease - and the new variants - boiling over elsewhere and as close as in Great Britain.
Not in the fevered brains of the anti-vaxers.
Not
in the faulted calculus of a much greater number of people who never
learned that all of life is a risk / benefit analysis - and who are not
taking the vaccine.
Not among the Irresponsibles who don't give a damn.
So: continue to use common sense, and masks and social distancing...and avoid unprotected crowds for another few months.

In
addition to relating in great detail the difference between the Asian
Flu pandemic of 1957 and this one, the author clearly describes the
relevant differences between great numbers of today's Americans and
their grand-parents and great-grandparents. And therein lies the
Rub, as well as the lessons to be learned - if enough of us are
educable.
I have a personal story about the Asian Flu and the summer of 1957.
On
July 1 of that year, having just graduated from Medical School, I began
a one year Mixed Internship at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. My
first rotation was in the very busy Emergency Room, which covered from
the Hudson River to Lexington Avenue and from 86th Street to 33rd
Street. Toward the end of that first week, we received a seriously ill
24 year old Greek student right off the boat from Europe.
He was dead within 24 hours. Then came the news that he had succumbed to the "Asian Flu", new to us.
Then came the order that all of our staff should present immediately to receive a "vaccine".
About
half of us could not break away from our duties. The other half
received the vaccine - and half of them promptly became quite ill. We
covered for them for a couple of days. I never caught the Asian Flu.
As regards Covid-19, so far so good.
Back to my original message: THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER YET.

• THE PROPOSED NATIONAL U.S.COAST GUARD MUSEUM.
Some
years ago, New London barely snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat
when it succeeded in besting New York's Fort Hamilton for the proposed
museum. The original planned site was Fort Trumbull, actually on or
near the site of the former Kelo property. Then the soap opera that
became Kelo vs. City of New London caused the leaders of the Coast Guard to lose courage and retreat to its current unlikely planned site. BIG MISTAKE.
Time to stop this "Advance to the Rear".

The "Green Thing"
Checking
out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady
that she should bring her own grocery
bags, because
plastic bags are not good for the environment.
The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days.”
The
young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did
not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
The
older lady said that she was right our generation didn't have the
"green thing" in its day. The older lady went on to explain: Back then,
we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store.
The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and
refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they
really were recycled.
But we didn't have the "green thing" back in
our day. Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that
we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage
bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school
books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for
our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were
able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.
But, too bad
we didn't do the "green thing" back then. We walked up stairs because
we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We
walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower
machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We
didn't have the "green thing" in our day.
Back then we washed
the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw away kind. We dried
clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220
volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our
early days.
Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or
sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right;
we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Back then we had
one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV
had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a
screen the size of the state of Montana.
In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us.
When
we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old
newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power.
We
exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on
treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have
the "green thing" back then.
We drank from a fountain when we were
thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a
drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a
new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing
away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't
have the "green thing" back then.
Back then, people took the
streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked
instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the
family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before
the "green thing.”
We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an
entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need
a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000
miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But
isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks
were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?
Please
forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in
conservation from a smart ass young person. We don't like being old in
the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off... Especially
from a tattooed, multiple pierced smartass who can't make change
without the cash register telling them how much.

known that for years, but the other night the country saw it with their
own eyes. Unfortunately, the Left has already started a smear campaign
against our great Senator from South Carolina.

Scott’s story is the hallmark of the American Dream. Unlike many in
politics, Tim’s life was not handed to him on a platter. Tim has had to
earn and fight for every single step of his journey to Congress.
Let’s
look back a generation. When Tim’s grandfather was a boy in South
Carolina, he had to quit school in the third grade to pick cotton. He
never learned how to read or write. But, in the last years of his life,
he watched his grandson become a United States Senator. Tim says of his
life, “From cotton to Congress in one generation”. What a remarkable
journey.
Tim’s time in Congress has not been easy. His

April 23, the great Robert Woodson delivered the inaugural lecture in
Hillsdale’s Christ Chapel Drummond Lecture Series. His topic was
“Conservatism and Race: A Positive Path Forward.”
A veteran of
the civil rights movement, Woodson embraces what he calls “radical
pragmatism” as the best way to improve the lives of “the least of God’s
children.” His work at the Woodson Center seeks to ennoble and inspire
the downtrodden rather than condescend to and coddle them. As my
colleague David Whalen noted, “for decades, while public figures pose
and wrangle about the poor and racial injustice, Robert Woodson has
transformed the lives of many thousands. He does so because he
understands responsibility, authentic human dignity, and the freedom
through which people actually flourish. Where others just talk, Woodson
has achieved near miracles.”
In recognition of his long and good service for America, Woodson was awarded Hillsdale’s Freedom Leadership Award.
