RAPID
RESPONSE (Archives)...Daily Commentary on News of the Day
This is a new section. It will
offer fresh,
quick reactions by myself to news and events of the day, day by day, in
this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be pro-active.
That's all I promise.

"Where to Invade Next"
by Michael Moore
(Posted: February 27, 2016)
This movie is worth seeing, a "B" overall.
It has to be called a documentary, since all of the "actors" are real
people, always a plus. It is also a cleverly crafted screed that avoids
the term "diatribe" appropriately attributed to his earlier works. It
achieves this with dollops of honey and effective humor that cover for
the occasional comments like referring to the history of American
slavery as "genocide" tantamount to the Holocaust.
The story line contrasts individualistic America with several
socialistic nations of Europe and elsewhere - where the citizenry are
just happy to be taken care of from cradle to grave without too much
effort on their part. It does appear to work for them, especially after
the living memory of a disastrous first half of the 20th century.
What really gets this movie off on the right foot is his first
"invasion"...of Italy. Several believable sequences
interviewing real and personally attractive people. And what bad can
you say about his original description:
"Italians always look like people who have just had sex".
That got me hooked.

Subject: SCARED YET!
"Au Contrare".
I'm starting to warm to the idea.
The people, Republicans and Democrats, who really fear a Trump
candidacy are those who FEAR THE PEOPLE.
And you know my personal Battle Cry:
ANYBODY BUT BONNIE AND CLYDE!!
GS
I fear a Trump nomination
because it will guarantee a victory for Hillary Clinton. - P
I could not find last night's debate live on TV, but I
watched a fair amount of it on out-takes by the liberal media -
obviously none of them favoring Trump. However, Trump stated
numerous effective positions - over the incessant hectoring of Rubio.
The one statement he made that I think was key was the observation that
his candidacy is bringing many new people and now likely voters into
the "new Republican Party". That, in addition to the disgust
and anger of a vast number of Americans over the state of our
Government and its direction, will I believe win the election for Trump
if he is the candidate for the Presidency. Notwithstanding the
disappointing constant criticism of him by Charles Krauthammer (what's
he worried about?), Trump showed himself last night to be as
"presidential" as any other candidate on that stage, and as
even-tempered.
Of course, in the end:
ANYBODY BUT BONNIE AND CLYDE!
GS
A TRUMP PRESIDENCY?
ANYBODY BUT BONNIE AND CLYDE!!

BUCKET
LIST FOR 2016 I
like the list of 13 things that I, as a senior American citizen, want. This
is why Trump is zooming ahead. He is at least talking about issues that
most Americans are concerned about. My mantra about Trump is
this: We are usually in agreement with most of what he says
but wish someone else was saying it. We are getting older and our
tickers aren't what they used to be...so here is Our Special Bucket
List for 2016... HERE
IS WHAT WE WANT... 1.
Hillary: in prison! 2.
Put "GOD" back in America !!! 3.
Borders: Closed! 4.
Congress: On the same retirement & healthcare plans as
everybody else . 5.
Congress: Obey its own laws NOW! 6.
Language: English only! 7.
Culture: Constitution and the Bill of Rights! 8.
Drug Free: Mandatory Drug Screening before & during Welfare! 9.
Freebies: NONE to Non-Citizens! 10.
Budget: Balance the damn thing! 11.
Foreign Countries: Stop giving them our money! Charge them for our
help! We need it here. 12.
Fix the TAX CODE! And
most of all. 13.
"RESPECT OUR MILITARY AND OUR FLAG!!" We
the people are coming! Only 86% will send
this on. Should be 100%. What
will you do?

THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT
Add
this to the long list of categories that place this State #46 or #47 in
economic, social and political desirability. I tried to help by running
for State Senate from the 20th District in 1990, including a 6 month
informational campaign on the state of the State. I lost.
HERE
IS ONE OF MANY REASONS WHY THE PEOPLE NO LONGER TRUST THEIR GOVERNMENT,
AND WHY THEY HOLD ON TO THEIR GUNS AND TO THEIR CYBER-PRIVACY - SUCH AS
IT IS.
MORE. THIS IS WHAT BEING CHRISTIAN, AND A MORAL PERSON OF ANY
PERSUASION, IS ALL ABOUT.
And
it's not about the national security requirements of border control, or
about the hypocritical condemnation of "12 million illegal
immigrants" who were in effect invitees of our corporations, of our
private citizens with lawns and fields to tend, of unenforced laws, and
of crack-heads on our streets and in our corporate offices.
Those
are all problems that must be honestly addressed and solved. But they
must be addressed within the context of a basic human morality that
Pope Francis is reminding us of.
JUSTICE SCALIA'S DEATH AND THE POLITICS OF DIVISION.
This article describes some momentous decisions now pending
before the USSC.
As
Senate Majority Leader McConnell has noted, the American people should
have a direct right and opportunity - in the 2016 Presidential election
- to weigh in on those decisions.
If President Obama is
concerned about his "legacy", which to date has been all about the
Politics of Division, he should forego nominating a replacement in a
singular - and solitary - act of Statesmanship during his tenure.
OK. I'VE HAD IT WITH TRUMP. TOO UNDISCIPLINED, TOO MANY TIMES
WRONG OR DEVIOUS ON THE FACTS.
See the exchanges last night as posted below.
Then refer to my many facts and comments posted on Rapid Response
between March 2003 and 2005.
In fact, let me make a bold prediction: Trump will lose South Carolina.
Even if he doesn't, HE'S OUTA HERE.
THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC: IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY.
Yes: that has been obvious for generations, beginning at the highest
levels of government, as I have been saying for decades.
Regarding the Republican Debate in New Hampshire, Feb. 6, 2016:
WHEN IS A DEBATE NOT A DEBATE?
When the moderators ask fair, probing questions, not "gotchas".
When every one of the Republican participants provides insightful and
informative answers.
When all of the participants' answers and statements reflect near-
unanimity in their individual approaches to the problems presented.
When there were no attacks between and among the candidates, either on
the merits or ad hominem.
When every participant demonstrated that he was qualified to be the
next President of the United States.
When every candidate condemned the tenure of the present President on
specific and similar grounds.
When every candidate dismissed the eligibility of Hillary Clinton to
hold that office on specific grounds.
When every one of these standard bearers of the Republican Party
clearly articulated the positions and philosophy of that
Party,
in glaring contrast to those of the Democratic Party, thus offering a
clear choice to all voters.
This is what really happened tonight, in contrast to what you will
undoubtedly be reading and hearing from the mainstream media in the
coming days.
An excellent job by all involved. Finally no one was afraid of the
People. They are actually listening to the People. And the
People
will respond in November.

One
night at Cheers (TV

"Well, ya
see, Norm, it's like this...A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as
the
slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the
slowest
and
weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural
selection is
good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of
the whole
group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest
members! In
much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the
slowest
brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills
brain
cells.
But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells
first. In
this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain
cells, making
the brain a faster and more efficient machine! That's why you
always feel
smarter after a few beers."

Please

have seen too many
dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the
great
freedom that comes with aging.
Whose
business is it, if I choose to read, or play on the

if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.
I
will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a
bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose
to,
despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.
I
know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is
just as well forgotten. And, eventually, I will remember the important
things.
Sure,
over the years, my
heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you
lose a
loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet
gets
hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength,
and
understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is
pristine,
and
sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I
am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn
gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etchedinto
deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so
many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As
you get older, it is
easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think.. I
don't question
myself anymore.I've
even earned the right to be wrong.
So,
to answer your
question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I
have

while I am still

Qualifications
There
is no "try," only
"do" or "not do." (Yoda)
*Subject:*
Qualifications for being
President....
*
In a Purdue University
classroom, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of
the
United States, it was pretty simple. The Candidate must be a natural
born
citizen at least 35 years of age.*
*However,
one girl in the
class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a
natural
born citizen. In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented
many
capable individuals from becoming president. The class was taking it in
and
letting her rant, and not many jaws hit the floor until she wrapped up
her
argument by stating, "What makes a natural born citizen any more
qualified
to lead this country than one born by C-section?"*
*Yep,
these are the same kinds of
18-year-olds that are now voting in our elections! They breed, and they
walk
among US!! Lord, we need more help than we thought we did!*
*No
wonder half of
graduating college students can't find a job.*
ABSOLUTELY!
And this is the worst of several actions / inactions by this President
that fulfill the Constitutional application of "high crimes and
misdemeanors" warranting IMPEACHMENT.
Such Articles of Impeachment must be brought in the U.S. House
Representatives. Mr. Speaker, please do your duty.
YET ANOTHER OUTRAGE.
But the greatest outrage taking place in this "government of the
people, by the people and for the people" is the number of citizens who
do not vote and thus enable - guarantee - these injustices. The
message: VOTE. VOTE. VOTE!

28th
Amendment, 35 States and Counting
It
will take you less than a minute to read this. If you agree, please pass
it on. It's an idea whose time has come to deal with this self serving
situation:
Children
of Congress members do not have to pay back their college student
loans.
Staffers
of Congress family members are also exempt from having to payback
student loans.
Members
of Congress can retire at full pay after only one term.
Members
of Congress have exempted themselves from many of the laws they
have passed, under which ordinary citizens must live.
For
example, they are exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual
harassment.
And
as the latest example, they have exempted themselves from Healthcare
Reform, in all of its aspects.
We
must not tolerate an elite class of such people, elected as public servants
and then putting themselves above the law.
I
truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent, or whatever.
The self-serving must stop.
Governors
of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for
imposing unlawful burdens upon their states. It only takes 38 (of the
50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.
Proposed
28th Amendment to the United States
Constitution: "Congress
shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States
that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives;
and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators
and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the Citizens
of the United States ..."

Here
isa
description of his funeral, definitely worth
reading:
Chris
Kyle:
This is apparently from a wife of one of the Navy Seals in
attendance... it
makes interesting, disturbing, but hardly surprising reading.
Chris
Kyle became
the US armed services number #1 sniper of all time. Not something he
was happy
about, other than the fact that in so doing, he saved a lot of
lives.
Three years ago, his wife Taya asked him to leave the SEAL teams
because he had
a huge bounty on his head by Al Qaeda. He did and wrote the book "The
American Sniper" and 100% of the proceeds from the book went to two of
the
SEAL families who had lost their sons in Iraq .
<>That
was the kind of guy Chris was. He formed a company in Dallas
to train military, police and I think firemen, how to protect
themselves in
difficult situations. He also formed a foundation to work with military
people
suffering from PTSD. Chris was a giver not a taker. He, along with a
friend and
neighbor, Chad Littlefield, were murdered trying to help a young man
that had
served six months in Iraq and claimed to have PTSD. Now I needto
tell you about all of the
blessings.
SouthwestAirlines flew
in any SEAL & their
family
from any airport to the funeral... free of charge. The employees
donated buddy
passes & one lady worked for four days without much of
a
break to see that it happened. Volunteers were at both airports
in Dallas to drive them to the hotel.
The
MarriottHotel reduced
rates to $45 a night & cleared the hotel for only SEAL's and
family.
TheMidlothian,
TX
Police Department paid the $45 a night for each
room. I would
guess
there were about 200 people staying at the hotel, 100 of them were
SEALs.
Twolarge
buses
were chartered (an unknown donor paidthe
bill) to transport
people to the different events and
they also hadafew
rental cars (donated). Thepolice
and secret servicewere
on duty 24 hours during the stay at our hotel.
At
theKyle
house,the Texas DPS parkeda
large
motor home in front to block the
view
from
reporters. It remained there the entire five days for the SEALs to meet
in and
so they could use the restroom there instead of the bathroom in the
house.
Taya,their
two small children and both sets ofparents were
staying in the home. Only a hand full of SEALS went into the home as
they had
different duties and meetings were held sometimes on an hourly basis.
<>It
was a huge coordination of many different events and security.
Derek was assigned to be a Pall Bearer, to escort Chris' body when it
was
transferred from the Midlothian Funeral Home to the Arlington Funeral
Home, and
to be with Taya. A tough job. Taya seldom came out of her bedroom. The
house
was full with people from the church and other family members that
would come
each day to help. I spent one morning in a bedroom with Chris' mom and
the next
morning with Chad Littlefield's parents (the other man murdered with
Chris). A
tough job.
George W.Bush
and his wife Laura ,
met
and talked to everyone on the Seal Team one on one. They went behind
closed
doors with Taya for quite a while. They had prayer with us all. You can
tell
when people were sincere and caring. NolanRyan sent
his cooking team,
a huge
grill and lots of steaks, chicken and hamburgers. They set up in the
front yard
and fed people all day long including the 200 SEALs and their families.
The
nextday
a local BBQ restaurant set up a buffet infront
of the house and fed all once again. Food
was plentiful and all were taken care of. The family's
church kept those inside the house well
fed.

not

or if so
many SEALS in one place was a security risk, I don't know. We willingly
obliged. No purses went into the stadium!

service started at 1:00 pm and when we were escorted onto the field I
was
shocked. We heard that about 10,000people
had come
to
attend also. They wereseated in the
stadium seats behind us.
It was a beautiful & emotional service. The Bagpipe &
drum
corps were
wonderful and theTexas
A&M men's
choir stood
through the entire service & sang right at the end. We were all
in
tears.
The nextday
was the 200-mile procession from
Midlothian, TX to Austin for burial. It was a cold, drizzly, windy day,
but the
people were out. We had dozensof
police
motorcycle riders, freedomriders,
five chartered
buses and
lots of cars . You had to have a pass to
be in the
procession and
still it was huge.
Twohelicopters circled
the procession withsnipers sitting
out the side door for protection.
It
wasthe
longest funeral procession ever in the stateof
Texas.
People were everywhere Theentire
route was shut down ahead of us, thepeople
were linedup on the side of the road the
entire way.
Firemen were down on one
knee, police
officers were
holding their hats over their hearts, children waving
flags, veterans saluting as
we went by. Everybridge
had fire trucks with large flagsdisplayed from
their tall ladders, peopleall
along the
entire
200 miles were standing inthe cold weather. It
was so
heart warming. Taya rode in the hearse with Chris' body so Derek rode
the route
with us. I was so grateful to have that time with him.
The
service was at TexasNational
Cemetery. Very few are
buried there and
you have
to apply toget in.
It is like people from
the Civil
War, Medal of Honor winners, a few from the Alamo and all the
historical people
of Texas. It was a nice service and the FreedomRiders surrounded
the outside of the entire cemetery to keep the crazy church people from
Kansas
that protest at military funerals away from us.
EachSEAL put
his Trident (metal SEAL badge) on the
top of Chris' casket, one at a time. A lot hit it in with one blow.
Derek was
the only one to take four taps to put his in and it was almost like he
was
caressing it as he did it.
Another
tearful moment.
After theservice Governor Rick
Perry and his wife, Anita ,
invited us to the governor's mansion. She stood at the door, greeted
each of us
individually, and gave each of the SEALs a coin of Texas . She was a
sincere,
compassionate, and gracious hostess. We were able to tour the ground
floor and
then went into the garden for beverages and BBQ.So
many of
the Seal
team guys said that after they getout
they are
moving to
Texas.
They
remarked that they had never felt so much love and
hospitality. The charter buses then took the guys to the airport to
catch their
returning flights. Derek just now called - after a 20 hour flight he is
back in
his spot, in a dangerous land on the other side of the world, protecting
America.

just wanted to share

BREAKING NEWS: Seventy-Two
Killed
Resisting Gun Confiscation In Massachusetts
National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned
assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Paramilitary extremist
faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were
killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were
compelled to withdraw.
Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared
that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has
links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.
Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed
against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the
group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order
authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered
with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.
The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal
by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.
Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition
earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this
month between government and military leaders at which the governor
authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.
One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed
out that “none of these people would have been killed had the
extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”
Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of
outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize
arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed
extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.
During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard
Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered
the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was
broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the
right-wing extremists.
Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.
Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than
the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored,
armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard
units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob,
ordered a retreat.
Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national
joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor
also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and
leading the attack against the government troops.
Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified
as "ringleaders" of the extremist faction, remain at large.
And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April
20, 1775.
