RAPID
RESPONSE (Archives)...Daily Commentary on News of the Day
This is a new section. It will
offer fresh,
quick reactions by myself to news and events of the day, day by day, in
this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be pro-active.
That's all I promise.

CATHOLIC EYE OPENER
During the Civil War most of the nurses were nuns.
Even if you are not Catholic, this is eye opening: when
the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals. Today, one
out of five people in this Country receive their medical care at a
Catholic hospital.
When the
Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools. Today, the
Catholic Church teaches 3 million students a day, in its more
than 250
Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High
Schools and its more than 5000 Catholic grade schools. Every day, the
Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than
any other organization in the world.
The new
Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers would have
to make up the loss. Also, all Catholic adoption services
will come
to an end...a human disaster.
There are
more than 77 million Catholics in this country. It takes an estimated
50 million Catholic votes to elect a president.
I am asking
all of you to go to the polls in 2016 and be united in replacing all
Senators and Reps with someone who will respect the Catholic Church,
all Christians, and all Religions with the exception of
Islam.
Mr.
President, you said, "The USA is not a Christian Nation." You are
wrong - we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values
allowing all religions in America to worship and practice
freely....
something that Islam will never do.
Oh, by the
way, on MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America .... Have you ever been to a Muslim
hospital, heard a Muslim orchestra, seen a Muslim band march in a
parade, know of a Muslim charity, ever seen Muslims shaking hands with
a Muslim Girl Scout, or ever seen a Muslim Candy Striper volunteering
in a hospital? Have you ever seen a Muslim do much of
anything that
contributes positively to the American way of life?

FOR ONCE, I'M SPEECHLESS WITH
ADMIRATION.
GS
Thought
you might like to read this letter to the editor of a British national
newspaper. Ever notice how some people just seem to know how to write a
letter?
Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister!
Written by a housewife, to her daily newspaper:
'Are we fighting
a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it
not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July
2002, and in
New York Sept 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?
Were
people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in
Washington ,
and in downtown Manhattan , and in a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did
nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning
or
crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And
I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by
a
justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in
a
brutal insurgency.
I'll
care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring
about
the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by
beheading in
Afghanistan .
I’ll
care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off
Nick Berg’s
and James Foley’s heads while both screamed through their gurgling
slashed
throats,more beheadings are imminent.
I'll
care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out
and fight
like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in
mosques and
behind women and children.
I'll
care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of
Nirvana care
about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.
I'll
care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of
speech on
stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground
or their
families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.
In
the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up
an
Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:
I
don't care.
When
I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to
move
because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:
I
don't care.
When
I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and
'fed
special food' that is paid for by my taxes - is complaining that his
holy book
is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of
hearts:
I
don't care.
And
oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and
other
times 'Quran..' Well, believe me!! You guessed it ..................
I
don't care!!
If
you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends.
Sooner
or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous
Behaviour!
If
you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you
choose the
latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by
radical
Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add:
'Some
people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in
the
world. Our soldiers don't have that problem.'
I
have another quote that I would like to add, AND......... I hope you
forward
all this.
Only
six defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1.
Jesus Christ
2.
The British Soldier
3.
The Canadian Soldier.
4.
The US Soldier
5.
The New Zealand Soldier
6.
The Australian Soldier
One
died for your soul, the other 5 for your freedom.
GIVE THIS LADY
A STANDING OVATION. SHE HAS INDEED TICKED ALL THE
BOXES
Isn't
it interesting that so many people in the Western World feel this way,
but not
one of our politicians, who are supposed to represent us, ever have the
guts to
state the situation like it is?
We
do not have strong
politicians, just weaklings that bend in the wind.

A
"CONSEQUENTIAL WEEK" OF NEWS-WORTHY DEVELOPMENTS.
- "SCOTUSCARE":
I have already addressed this ;
- CHARLESTON:
THE GOOD (remarkable and holy Christian forgiveness); THE BAD (an evil
and/or mentally ill person and his reckless parents and friends); and
the UGLY (the politicians who are quick to make hay with crocodile
tears about "racism", "gun control" and a flag. Regarding this last
issue, see the always excellent commentary by Charles Krauthammer
entitled "On Lowering Flag Of The Confederacy" (in The Day,
www.theday.com, Saturday June 27, 2015, Opinion, pA4).
- Gay
Marriage. Many people have "gone ape" over this development, including
the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Regarding this last group, Law
Professor Alan Dershowitz is extensively quoted in an article by Bill
Hoffman on Newsmax (www.newsmax.com, Friday June 26) that is well worth
reading. One of his quotes: "No Priest is going to have to marry
two
men or rabbis are going to have to marry two men." This never was a
religious issue. It was and still is a cultural and ignorance
issue.
And it is a Civil Law issue. Whether it should have been decided
by
the Judicial Branch of Government instead of the Legislative Branch is
something that I have already addressed elsewhere in Rapid
Response.
And to my Bishops: review the damaging work of Pope Paul VI in his
encyclical "Humana Vitae" regarding contraception, the work of many
conservatives throughout the 1970's trying to kill the results of
Vatican ll aborning, the fossilized stance toward divorce while
tolerating the abuses of Annulment, and of course the abominable and
sinful handling of the child abuse issue over decades. Review all
of
this...and then do Penance at the coming Convocation on the Family
scheduled for this coming October. It is long overdue.
YES, THIS HAS
BEEN A CONSEQUENTIAL WEEK OF DEVELOPMENTS.

Folks,
check out the lead editorial in the attached edition of the Georgia
Weekly Post, created and published by my friend Tony Delmichi, formerly
of N.Y.C. and New London and now of Atlanta and Dunwoodie,
Georgia.
The key to my thesis remains the same: my thesis works IF we have an
independent Fourth Estate: the Press. If that disappears...and
indications are that "Freedom of the Press" is disappearing...then
"keep your powder dry" - and prepare for Civil War III.

"San Andreas"
The movie review
of this movie is another example of the evident inability of some (many
?) members of our younger generations to recognize and appreciate human
emotions. I believe it is the result of broken homes, a drug culture,
and the cyber - culture in all its forms. Have we already reached the
"Singularity"...and don't recognize it. The movie review gives
passing
recognition to the emotions depicted, and gives credit to Hollywood's
ability to create "disasters". But it still gives the movie a "2
star"
rating.
WRONG. This is a fine movie, even a family movie for teenagers
and
older adults. And it also accommodates a theory of mine: that viewing
depicted true-to-life disasters in some way may prepare an individual
to deal with a real disaster if encountered. My only fault with this
movie is that they did not give high billing as "Supporting Actor" to
GOD. B+.

A Valuable Lesson From
Law School:
"The U.S. Supreme Court is like an 800 pound gorilla:
it sits where it wants to sit."
The Decisions of SCOTUS in recent days are not unique in their
dismissal of the intent of the Founding Fathers to create a nation
governed by three independent Federal bodies (Legislative, Executive
and Judicial). There have unfortunately many other examples
throughout the history of America.
This Court could have acted Judicially by following the plain language
of the Accountable Care Act (aka. ObamaCare) and the clear intent of
Congress, as outlined in an article by George Will. Or it could have
acted Politically, as it has done twice now, regarding ObamaCare (aka.
SCOTUSCARE, according to Justice Antonin Scalia in his Dissent).
Personally, my only challenge has recently been - and will accelerate -
absorbing the increasing number of patients, generally sicker and more
complex, who are seeking my care and that of my fine Registered Nurses.
I can deal with that.
Nationally, we now have evidence that None of the three branches of
Federal Government are functional in the way that our U.S. Constitution
articulated. Into that vacuum has spread the nearly unilateral
actions of the Administrative (bureaucratic) bodies.
The prognosis for this nation is Guarded.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.
And my gift to myself is Freedom of Expression. So here goes...
• The encyclical of Pope Francis is right "on
point". And it is more important for our times than was that of
Pope Leo XIII in the 19th century. If we ignore its clear
messages, then these are the "End Times".
• Do "moderate Muslims" exist? If so, then they
must ignore the now meaningless Shia / Sunni schism and return to a
once tolerant Islam, even at the cost of a civil war.
• The now massive world - wide movement of displaced
persons and immigrants from politically and war - ravaged countries can
be a catastrophe, or an opportunity. The nations of Europe and the
Middle East cannot absorb them. What is needed is another "New
World" as was found and founded in The Americas. Where, you
say? In the now unoccupied sands of the Sahara that can be
returned to its former fecund self by a new environmental colonization
effected by the affected nations...and by the rest of the world's
nations - all in the self-interest of avoiding another world
conflagration.
• On the home front, see my earlier posting in
this section on the abuses of "racism" to explain all our ills.
The real focus of our efforts to avoid more mindless or evil acts as
befell Charleston should be for every person to heed the call: "If you
see something, say something!" And that should include our health
professionals and the parents and friends among us. As for guns,
access to them should require accepted background checks (and not tools
for confiscation). And in rational hands, guns can do and are
doing good in discouraging individual and even governmental mischief.
• What race do you want to be? Just pick a race
and go for it. Unlike sex, which is in large part biologically
determined, personal choice of a particular race can bring substantial
dividends in our affirmative action society. Any other "choice"
you want?
• 2016 will see the most important Presidential
Election in a century, as I have discussed earlier in this
section. And the Republicans are well on their way to losing it -
again. "Stupido. Stupido. Stupido".
THERE. Now I can enjoy my Father's Day, in the glow of my four
living children and five grandchildren, and with the vivid and loving
memory of my Maura and her mother.

Your

As

Then
- over the

You

Captain

He's
not MedEvac so
it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying

Even
after the

And
he drops it in and
sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on

Then
he flies you up

Well,
once again a vacation out West has worked its magic. After a
difficult
five months of coping with a suddenly growing medical practice (in our
52nd year, thanks to ObamaCare subsidies for Husky patients) and other
issues, these twelve days away in the Rocky Mountains (Wyoming,
Montana, Idaho and Colorado) have been "just what the doctor
ordered".
And to have shared it with two of my sons and families is a big bonus.
Back to full strength, piss and vinegar.
During this time I have paid some attention to happenings nationwide
and worldwide. Suffice to say that there are many horses out
West; but
there are more horses' asses in the East. And of course,
California
is a "special case'.
I have also had time to read two books which in my opinion cannot be

2) "Things That

HOORAY – A 53-46 vote
The U.N. Resolution 2117
lists 21 points dealing with firearms control, but perhaps of most
interest is point number 11. It: “CALLS FOR MEMBER STATES TO SUPPORT
WEAPONS COLLECTION and DISARMAMENT of all UN countries”.
By a 53-46 vote - The U.S. Senate voted
against the U.N. resolution. HOORAY.
This is that brief, glorious moment in
history when everyone stands around...reloading.
Now, Which 46 Senators Voted to Destroy Us?
Well, let their names become known ! See below . If you vote in one of
the states listed with these 46 “legis..traitors”… vote against them.
In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a
measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United
Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The Statement of Purpose from the Senate
Bill reads: "To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United
States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty." The
U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama
Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the
import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all
private gun owners in the U.S. and had language that would have
implemented an international gun registry, now get this, on all private guns
and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United
States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to
a foreign power.
