RAPID
RESPONSE (Archives)...Daily Commentary on News of the Day
This is a new section. It will
offer fresh,
quick reactions by myself to news and events of the day, day by day, in
this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be pro-active.
That's all I promise.

WEDNESDAY through SUNDAY, May 27 through 31, 2015 Well, once again a
vacation out West has worked its magic. After a difficult five
months of coping with a suddenly growing medical practice (in our 52nd
year, thanks to ObamaCare subsidies for Husky patients) and other
issues, these twelve days away in the Rocky Mountains (Wyoming,
Montana, Idaho and Colorado) have been "just what the doctor
ordered". And to have shared it with two of my sons and families
is a big bonus. Back to full strength, piss and vinegar.
During this time I have paid some attention to happenings nationwide
and worldwide. Suffice to say that there are many horses out
West; but there are more horses' asses in the East. And of
course, California is a "special case'.
I have also had time to read two books which in my opinion cannot be
missed:
1) "Legends And Lies:
The Real West", by Bill O"Reilly and David Fisher, Henry Holt and Co.,
New York, c2015. 2) "Things That
Matter", by Charles Krauthammer, Crown Forum, New York, 2013,2015.
Enjoy.

ALERT!
ALERT! ALERT!
PLEASE

HOORAY – A 53-46 vote
The U.N. Resolution 2117
lists 21 points dealing with firearms control, but perhaps of most
interest is point number 11. It: “CALLS FOR MEMBER STATES TO SUPPORT
WEAPONS COLLECTION and DISARMAMENT of all UN countries”.
By a 53-46 vote - The U.S. Senate voted
against the U.N. resolution. HOORAY.
This is that brief, glorious moment in
history when everyone stands around...reloading.
Now, Which 46 Senators Voted to Destroy Us?
Well, let their names become known ! See below . If you vote in one of
the states listed with these 46 “legis..traitors”… vote against them.
In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a
measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United
Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The Statement of Purpose from the Senate
Bill reads: "To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United
States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty." The
U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama
Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the
import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all
private gun owners in the U.S. and had language that would have
implemented an international gun registry, now get this, on all private guns
and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United
States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to
a foreign power.
Here are the 46 senators who voted to give
your rights to the U.N.:
Baldwin (D-WI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bennett (D-CO)
Blumenthal (D-CT)

Folks: This needs to go viral. These Senators

election. We have been betrayed.

A
good laugh for people in the over 60 group! When
I bought my Blackberry, I thought about the 30-year business I ran with
1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes
videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I
signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids,
their spouses, my
13 grand kids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the
modern way. I
figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140
characters of space. My
phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything
except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not
ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf
bag. The
kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost
every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep
that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone
I am supposed to use when I drive. I
wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my
wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to
take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud. I
mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside
that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a
long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say,
"Re-calc-u-lating." You would think that she could be nicer It was like
she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and
then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right
turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship... When
I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the
cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as
Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me. To
be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless
phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't
figured out how I lose three phones all at once and have to run around
digging under chair cushions, checking bathrooms, and the dirty laundry
baskets when the phone rings. The
world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every
time I go to the grocery
store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but
this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me
for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking
confused, but I never remember to take them with me. Now
I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or plastic?" I just
say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their
turn to stare at me with a blank look. I
was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, "No, but I do fart a lot."
P.S.
I know some of you are not over 60. I sent it to you to allow you to
forward it to those who are. I figured your sense of humor could handle
it. We
senior citizens don't need any more gadgets. The
TV remote and the garage door remote are about all we can handle.
FRIDAY, May 8, 2015 RR#1 "STUPIDO. STUPIDO.
STUPIDO".
Large segments of our populace have lost - or never gained - the power
of critical thinking, thanks to the pablum they were fed during their
schooling. For the rest of us: "Keep you powder dry".
Life
is not a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but
rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly
used up, totally worn out, and loudly
proclaiming: "WOW!! WHAT A RIDE!"

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY, May 6 and 7, 2015 LIBERATION THEOLOGY
I have for decades been disappointed with the Church on this subject,
especially during the tenure of the last two Popes.
For "Liberation Theology" to be equated with "Socialism" and with
"Communism" requires that the predominant political philosophy
operative in Latin America, especially as regards ownership of land, be
called "Fascism". Thank God for Pope Francis.
FRIDAY, May 1, 2015 Meanwhile, Bill
O'Reilly has outdone himself this week in his daily series of
"Talking Points" on the O'Reilly Show. The topic, of course, has
been the sad and dangerous events in Baltimore and other cities. He is
one of the very few who has made the right diagnoses regarding "root
causes". The criminals and idiots - and here I include their
"leaders" - have set back the opinions and regard of our larger society
40 years.
What a Shame!
