quick reactions by myself to news and events of the day, day by day, in
this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that
to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be
pro-active.
That's all I promise.

IN SAN FRANCISCO: THAT'S "PRIOR RESTRAINT".
It's unconstitutional, it's illegal, it's another example of failure of
law enforcement.
We are getting closer and closer to Germany of the 1930's, of course
from the Left.
I don’t think this could
have been said any better and it definitely is about time someone said
it. Hopefully, this will go out over EVERY computer in the
U.S. and maybe, just maybe, these sports people will get the message of
just how ridiculous they are to disrespect our flag, and how little
what they do in sports compare to what our great military has done for
this country..
NFL protesting the flag -
Ret. Marine Col. Jeffery Powers wrote to the NFL
commissioners the following:
Commissioners, I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale
Bowl and the Giants Stadium.
I missed the ’90-’91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines
in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the
American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation
with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella was about how our Giants were
going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it.
Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or
for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped
over their coffins.
Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their
lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died
for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of
real men, men who have actually done something for this country besides
playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re
not! My Marines and Soldiers were!
You are complicit in this! You’ll fine players for large and small
infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation
and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s
their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner.
What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs
publicly?
I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end
zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the
flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st
Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?
Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine
players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the
sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They
are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a
freaking game!
You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and
disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who
supports that rabble you call the NFL I hope they turn off the TV when
any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on
the sidelines. I applaud those who have not

Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America.
They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down
to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished They are the heroes.
I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that
mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in
your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!
Time to change the channel
Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida congressman Allen
West. West then posted the letter on his news website.
As of last week, at least 18 NFL player had protested the anthem by
either kneeling during the anthem or raising their fists, according to
USA Today Sports.

A MONUMENTAL MISTAKE IN PROGRESS.
Consider carefully these voices of reason amidst the hysteria.
ON THE PRESIDENTIAL PARDON OF SHERIFF ARPAIO.
See the article by Robert Robb, in the Arizona Republic on August 25,
2017.
In nearly the entire article, Mr. Robb outlines Arpaio's actions in
support of both Federal and State Law...and the Courts' suspiciously
politicized orders that he not enforce those laws.
Then, in the last few sentences, Robb gives vent either to an
involuntary tic or he consciously places a fig leaf over his article -
probably to protect is job.
Meanwhile, back in the Republicrat Party, the likes of former Senator
Danforth and Senator McCain pile on with their Leftist Democratic
colleagues against their President...OUR PRESIDENT.
This state of dis-union will continue until 2018, when I predict that a
number of incumbent Republicans will be defeated by primaries whose
challengers will then go on to win more seats for the Republican Party.
Meanwhile, the President will continue to implement as much
as possible the actions he promised to the American People, regardless
of the hysteria and bad faith of his opponents.

Except for the work of Bret Baier, Martha MacCallum, Tucker Carlson and
a couple of others, the tone from Fox News has definitely changed. The
commentaries regarding many things Trump have become from weak to snide
to outright negative.

and the Bandit", when Smokey, frustrated with his feckless son, decides
to go home to "question" his wife. "They's no way you came outta ma
loins."

Fox CEO Murdoch Slams Trump,
Conservatives Respond
James Murdoch, the CEO of Fox News' parent company, has been slammed by
conservatives for harshly criticizing President Donald Trump and
suggesting he had backed Nazi sympathizers.
Earlier this week, Murdoch, who heads 21st Century Fox, wrote "What we
watched this last week in Charlottesville and the reaction to it by the
president of the United States concern all of us as Americans and free
people."
Murdoch pledged $1 million to the Anti-Defamation League to fight hate
crimes and prejudice, he said.
"The presence of hate in our society was appallingly laid bare as we
watched swastikas brandished on the streets of Charlottesville and acts
of brutal terrorism and violence perpetrated by a racist mob," Murdoch
added.
"I can't even believe I have to write this: Standing up to Nazis is
essential; there are no good Nazis. Or Klansmen, or terrorists."
Trump did condemn white supremacists and Nazi sympathizers, including
the person who murdered a young protester.
But, in an angry exchange with reporters in New York on Tuesday,
President Trump reiterated his initial comments that "there is blame on
both sides" in the melee over the removal of Confederate Gen. Robert E.
Lee's statue from a downtown Charlottesville park.
However, Trump's defiance drew praise from many conservatives,
including commentator Ann Coulter, who tweeted Tuesday: "We got our
leader back."
Radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham added that the president "made some
points that were factually right."
"There was violence on both sides in that event Saturday," she said.
"Anyone who watched the video could see it."
News of Murdoch's criticism of Trump drew sharp blowback from some
conservative quarters.
A Breitbart News story on the Murdoch letter drew over 2,500 comments
from angry readers, most supportive of Trump and critical of Fox News.
Here are some examples:
• "James Murdoch and his ilk destroyed
Fox and is a traitor to the people who made Fox News number 1."
• "It's amazing how the leftist business
leaders think it's ok to take these publicly funded businesses into
failure by alienating their Conservative customers."
• "If Trump was saying and doing the
things that the dishonest press 'reports,' I would agree that he is
badly hurting the country. The fact that the dishonest press is
distorting and smearing him puts the onus on the dishonest press for
badly hurting the country. When do fake journalists have to answer for
sedition?"
THE AMERICAN
LEFTIST BODY POLITIC IS INFECTED WITH A NEW DISEASE. IT IS "TRUMP HATE".
Far beyond the symptoms (great objection to his stated policies),
and
far beyond the visceral reaction to his selection by the American
people, this body's Immune System has gone into overdrive against a
perceived existential threat - an gross overreaction well-known in
Medicine as Sepsis, the outcome of which is often the demise of the
organism which the System is designed to protect. The latest reflection
of this is to be found in the Sunday NYTimes (August 20, 2017),
specifically the Sunday Review. The obscenity of the page 1 image which
introduces the page 1 article entitled "Trump Hate" cannot be
described. There follow page after page of articles dripping with
contempt and hatred. And as if not enough, the publication includes a
long and hysterical article in the NYTimes Magazine on Breitbart, way
over-the-top.
All of this found throughout the Media is not just
sick; it is Septic Shock. And it will kill that organism by the 2018
national elections.
Meanwhile, the renowned liberal Professor of Law
Alan Dershowitz continues to identify further signs of this process.

Mueller has become a political weapon of the left, one that "really
endangers democracy," self-proclaimed "liberal," author, and law
professor Alan Dershowitz said.
"The idea of trying to create
crimes just because we disagree with [Trump] politically, and target
him, really endangers democracy," Dershowitz told "The Cats Roundtable"
on 970 AM-N.Y. "[It] reminds me of what Lavrentiy Beria, the head of
the KGB, said to Stalin: 'Show me the man, and I will find you the
crime.'
"We shouldn't be targeting people. We shouldn't be looking
for crimes they've committed. We should only being using the criminal

AMERICA TODAY.
Please review the attached article and especially the interview with

The
vast preponderance of Americans today see and deal with all of their
fellow Americans as who they are and as whether they are contributing
fairly as Americans. They are Not racists. They are Not White
Supremacists. The true Racists today are those who strive to elevate
one race or group over the rest of us, the most blatant of those being
some Black "leaders" and their ignorant followers. And the vast

Is Biggest 'Fake News' of Summer

in Charlottesville could have been an occasion to stop and consider how
the tolerance for politically correct violence and politically correct
hatred is leading the nation towards civil war.
Instead the media
and the political left have turned this incident into the biggest fake
news story of the summer, transforming its real lessons into a morality
play that justifies war against the political right, and against white
people generally.
The organizers of the "Unite the Right" demonstration in
Charlottesville were repellent racists.
But they came to defend a historic monument honoring a complex man and
cause, and not to attack it or presumably anyone else.
They applied for a permit and were denied. They re-applied successfully
in a petition supported by the local ACLU.
If they had come to precipitate violence, why would they have gone to
the tedious trouble of applying for a permit?
Who
knows what — if anything — would have happened if that had been the end
of the story and no one had showed up to oppose them.
What Unite the
Right actually demonstrated was that the assortment of neo-Nazis,
pro-Confederates and assorted yahoos gathered under the banner of the
"Alt-Right" is actually a negligible group.
This supposed national show of strength actually attracted all of 500
people.
Compare
that to the tens of the thousands who can readily be marshaled by two
violent groups of the left — Black Lives Matter and Antifa — and you
get an idea of how marginal "white supremacists" are to America's
political and cultural life.
Yet "white supremacy" and its evils
became the centerpiece of all the fake news reporting on the event,
including all the ludicrous attacks on the president for not condemning
enough a bogeyman the whole nation condemns, and that no one but a
risible fringe supports.
Talk about virtue signaling!
Omitted
from the media coverage were the other forces at work in precipitating
the battle of Emancipation Park, specifically Black Lives Matter and
Antifa, two violent leftwing groups with racial agendas who came to
squelch the demonstration in defense of the monument.
Unlike the
Unite the Right demonstrators, the leftist groups did not apply for
permits, which would have been denied since there was another
demonstration scheduled for that park on that day.
But why should
they have applied for a permit, since the mayhem they had previously
caused in Ferguson, Berkeley, Sacramento, Portland and other cities,
was accomplished without permits, while their criminality was presented
by the media as "protests," and their rioting went completely
unpunished.
In other words, there were two demonstrations in
Charlottesville — a legal protest by Unite the Right and an illegal
protest by the vigilantes of Antifa and Black Lives Matter.
Who
started the fight is really immaterial. Both sides were prepared for
violence because these conflicts are already a pattern of our
deteriorating civic life.
Once the two sides had gathered in the same place, the violence was
totally predictable.
Two
parties, two culpabilities; but except for the initial statement of
President Trump, condemning both sides, only one party has been held
accountable, and that happens to be the one that was in the park
legally.
What is taking place in the media accounts and political
commentaries on this event is an effort by the left to turn the mayhem
in Charlottesville into a template for their war against a mythical
enemy — "white supremacy" — which is really a war on white people
generally.
The ideology that drives the left and divides our country
is "identity politics" — the idea that the world consists of two groups
— "people of color" who are guiltless and oppressed, and white people
who are guilty and oppressors.
This is the real race war.
Its
noxious themes inform the mindless, hysterical hatred of President
Trump, and the equally mindless support of racist mobs like Black Lives
Matter and Antifa.
It is a war from which no good can come. But it
won’t be stopped unless enough people have the courage to stand up and
name it for what it is.

Following this latest confrontation, again predictable and inadequately
blocked by law enforcement, I offer one action:
STOP TRYING TO REWRITE AMERICAN HISTORY.

"WHAT WOULD I DO?"
Born in 1933, (on the exact day that Hitler came to power in Germany),
I
was aware by the end of that decade of what my parents were going
through in the Depression. And I was definitely aware of Dec. 7, 1941.
From about that time onward, I have regularly tasked myself with the
above question regarding important current events.
Now comes North Korea and its paranoid leader.
What would I do?
1)
I would not bluff. I would try to negotiate, but from a position at
least of equality and definitely of overwhelming strength. If we say we
can and will do something, we must be able to do it.
2) Two equally
important goals must be the protection of South Korea and the
protection of the United States and of its territories.
3) Based
upon the enemy's own declarations taken at face value, we must declare
that any further missiles launched by them will be promptly destroyed.
4)
We must also declare that any hostile action begun on the South Korean
border, conventional or otherwise, will be immediately neutralized by
conventional and tactical nuclear weaponry, including neutron bombs.
5)
We must warn any other potential belligerents (ie, China and Russia)
that we have no desire to expand the above actions - all taken
defensively - unless they attack us, either directly or through North
Korea.
6) We must again remind China and Russia, especially China, that only
they have the ability to avoid any of this.
7)
We must notify the world, through the U.N. and otherwise, that our
defensive position is firm, regardless of any action or inaction on
their part. And we must seek whatever help they might be able to
provide to defuse this situation.
That's what I would do, given the information I have.

To pee or not to pee?
I have a job.
I work, they pay me.
I pay my taxes & the government
Distributes my taxes as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, in my case,
I am required to pass a random urine test
(with which I have no problem).
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes
To people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my question:
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check
Because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on
their feet.
I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on
their BUTT----doing drugs while I work..
Can you imagine how much money each state would save
If people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could call the program URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!
Something has to change in this country - AND SOON!
Just a thought, all politicians should have to pass a urine test too!!

God's Plan For Aging
Most
seniors never get enough exercise. In His wisdom God decreed
that
seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their
glasses, keys and other things thus doing more walking. And
God
looked down and saw that it was good.
Then
God saw there was another need. In His wisdom He made seniors
lose coordination so they would drop things requiring them to bend,
reach and stretch. And God looked down and saw that it was
good.
Then
God considered the function of bladders and decided seniors would have

TRUE...BUT HOW MUCH RELATED?
Yes, global warming / climate change is occurring.
Yes, human activity is playing a role.
BUT how much of a role?
How much can 21st century humanity change its MO without catastrophic
effects from the changes themselves?
And how much of an effect would such changes have on the climate
changes we are witnessing and projecting?
I have not seen answers to these questions. They must be answered.
You're critically wounded and dying in
the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam .
It's November 11, 1967.
LZ (landing zone) X-ray.
Your
unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from
100
yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the
MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.
You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know
you're not getting out.
Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll
never see them again.
As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a
helicopter.
You look up to see a Huey coming in But.. It doesn't seem real because
no MedEvac markings are on it.
Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.
He's
not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and
decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.
Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway.
And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load
3 of you at a time on board.
Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the
doctors and nurses and safety.
And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!
Until
all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was
over
that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.
He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have
made it without the Captain and his Huey.
Medal

died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise , Idaho
May God Bless and Rest His Soul.
I
bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure
seen a whole bunch about Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods and the bickering
of congress over Health Reform.

AFGHANISTAN: 16 YEARS AND COUNTING.
Here are three questions that have never been answered for the public.
1) Why is it in our national interest to be there? I believe that there
are valid answers; eg. Russia, Iran, Iraq.
2)
Afghanistan will never be won without neutralizing the cross-border
participation of Pakistan. Are we willing to undertake that, with its
possible implications, including effects on India - Pakistan
relationship?
3) Afghanistan will never be held without total
and permanent destruction of its opium production - the greatest in the
world. Are we willing to do that?
Why do we not hear about answers to these basic questions...including
from Senator John McCain?
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I STAY HOME ON SATURDAY
AND READ THE "REVIEW" SECTION OF THE WSJ?
I LEARN!
And I learn without the incessant Leftist editorialization that infects
all sections of the NYTimes...all the time.
This section by itself is worth the price of admission to a great
general newspaper, certainly the new "newspaper of record".
Herewith follow my comments on several offerings from the
Review section for August 5, 2017.
1)
"Priest of Nature", by Rob Iliffe. Who knew that the seminal scientist
Sir Isaac Newton was fervently religious and was convinced that "humans
were made in the image of God and that rational thought could provide
insight into the Creator God." Scientists who live long enough and who
are honest with themselves will arrive at the same conclusion.
2)
"Stanton: Lincoln's War Secretary", by Walter Stahl. Although Abraham
Lincoln was a hands-on Commander - in - Chief, this was the man who
made victory possible, and then who avenged Lincoln's assassination.
3)
"Putin's Russia Is Going Global", by Eugene Rumer and Andrew S. Weiss.
This should be required reading for anyone who wants to avoid WW IV.
Because this is a classic case of America and the West "bringing a
knife to a gunfight." Today, Putin (who IS Russia) is winning globally,
both directly and through his surrogates, by "exploiting opportunities
to undermine and hollow out the U.S. - led international order, with
its norms of economic openness, democratic accountability and the rule
of law." The end - game in such a fight is desperation,
over-reaction...and WW IV. Better to meet power with comparable power
now, by using as much Executive Action as this President will exert in
the present - and wait for "democratic accountability and the rule of
law" to catch up. Especially now when America's democratic processes
are held hostage by ignorance, hypocrisy, cynical self-service, and
just plain cowardice.

I continue to be a supporter of Pope Francis as the Holy Father.
However,
although some of the following may be a bit hyperbolic, I hope that the
Pope does not confuse bedrock Christian philosophy with cookie-cutter
Socialist politics. That would undermine both his personal and
hierarchical standing and also the unity of the Church in very
dangerous times.

A week ago, I offered a "non-movie review".
Now comes another commentary which also references that of Dorothy
Rabinowitz which I noted.

'"Dunkirk' Is Popular But Incomplete Film", by Richard Cohen,
in The
Day August 2, 2017, Opinion, pA4. In it, the author notes: "Since its
July 21 opening, it has taken in over $100 million in North America and
been hailed by ecstatic critics everywhere". Not one penny of mine; and
no ecstasy here . "It is deaf to history", intentionally omitting all
reference to the Germans and to the Churchill leadership.
But who
can blame the director for simply wanting to make hundreds of millions
of dollars on the vapid and uninformed masses who now populate our
society.
And there's more. The movie could have actually performed
a service by informing all of "the rest of the story", that of the
"Lancrastria", a Britsh Cunard luxury liner that had been converted to
a troop ship and that was attempting to rescue more evacuees from a
point 400 miles from Dunkirk. That ship was attacked by German bombers
and went down with over 7,000 aboard, more than the combined total lost
on the Lusitania and the Titanic.

On
Thursday, August 3 on the Tucker Carlson Fox News report, this trained
Psychiatrist exhibited something approaching anxiety - or as much as
his personality could muster. Essentially he stressed
(paraphrasing)
"Be Afraid. Be very afraid". He was referring the the
incessant
efforts of the Left, and of Establishment types, to run Donald Trump
out of office in some way, any way. And he broadly indicated
that
such an effort to steal the election from the people could be dangerous.
You're damned right! It could produce a Civil War.
Now that we're clear on that, let's stick with "the Truth, the whole
Truth, and nothing but the Truth"

Just kidding, folks.
But here is a fascinating story about Elmyr de Hory:
a Very Original Fake.
My
sources here are: a) the article on this real "fake" artist in
Wikipedia; and b) "F for Fake", a fine documentary film by Orson Welles
(1973 or 1974).
As an "executive summary" - and a real question for
the ages - I can do no better than to quote directly from the Wikipedia
article:
"In Welles film, de Hory questioned what it was that made
his forgeries inferior to the actual paintings created by the artists
he imitated, particularly since they had fooled so many experts, and
were always appreciated when it was believed that they were genuine. In
'F for Fake', Welles also poses questions about the nature of the
creative process, how trickery, illusion and duplicity often prevail in
the art world, and thus, in some respects, downplays the culpability of
the art forger de Hory and outliers like him."
In any case: A Very Original Fake.
